Annual meeting in Zurich 2019

"Scientific cooperation and integration between Chile and Switzerland"

The event was kindly sponsored by the Embassy of Chile in Switzerland and the Chilean Consulate in Zurich, in addition to the collaboration of the Institute of Archeology of the University of Zurich (UZH). The official opening began with words of welcome from the organizing committee, represented by its president, Dr. Maria Kolp-Godoy Allende , who thanked the researchers from all over Switzerland and abroad for their assistance. Followed by a welcome speech by the Honorary Consul of Chile in Zurich, Dr. Daniel Charlo Wenzel Korner, who valued the work done by the association ICES in Switzerland.


Presentations were made by :

  • Dr. Rodrigo Polanco , Senior Researcher and Lecturer, University of Bern and University of Lucerne

  • Mag. Jutta Bürgi , KOF Swiss Economic Institute, ETH Zurich

  • Dr. Waldo Valenzuela , Ph.D. Lecturer and Senior Data Scientist

  • Pedro Espinosa Ahumada , doctoral student in neurosciences, University of Geneva.

The exchange program for students and professors between the Universities of Bern (UniBe) and Concepción (UdeC), started in 2017, was discussed. the transfer of Swiss knowledge to Chilean research. Under this position in 2018, the University of Concepción received a grant to promote international collaboration between universities, whose main objective is to start collaboration between researchers from both countries. It was concluded that without the exchange of human capital and knowledge between Chile and other countries, clinically oriented research will not reach international levels in Chile.
